This works for me
.menu{text-align: center;}
.sf-menu{float: none;}
.sf-menu li{display: inline; float: none;}
.sf-menu a{display:inline-block;}
#access{width: 988px; height: 60px; margin: 0px auto;}

But, I still can't seem to get the nested list items to align left. dangit! Once i figure it out, i will repost.

1. of course it is possible, but 1. i don't have acamas and 2. your question is vague and doesn't show any code for me to critique.

2. premiumpixels is gorgeous. please use something like chrome's developer tools or http://getfirebug.com to look at how he is achieving that. first you are going to need to re-create the markup... which could be difficult.

<li><a><span>Home</span></a></li>

notice that he has an extra span. this is important b/c the triangle is on the a element and the underline is on the span. you could either do a hard-coded menu OR you'd need to create a custom walker. see my post on menus:

http://themeshaper.com/forums/topic/thematic-menus-demystified-1

Hi!

My question is in two parts:

1. I'm looking for a different way to display feature posts, as I do not have many of them. Is there an easy way I could replace the entire 'feature' section (that would show on the home page only) with a slider? Or, perhaps style the section so it displays 3-4 thumbnails horizontally that link to each feature post?

2. I will admit, I am terrible when it comes to CSS sometimes, and this is one of those times. I have the Acamas theme installed, and would love to style the menu so it looks similar to the one used in the current version of http://premiumpixels.com -- see how there is the little triangle image & black border underneath the current page?

I'd love some help... and I apologize for asking what may possibly be such a simple question. I have been sitting here trying various methods, and I just can't figure it out. Thanks.

The only way ive found to center the menu is to assign it an exact width to the ul element and use margin : 0 auto;

The width should be the smallest you can while still showing all items.

This doesnt work well with dynamic or constantly changing main menu items.

If i could open it in firefox i could find it in a few seconds. It should work changing .menu but that is defined in the layout stylesheet and usually conforms to the 960grid width so it is already defined 20px narrower than #access and centered inside it as well. modifying sf-menu should work fine. copy your code below `/* =Menu
-------------------------------------------------------------- */` until the next section.

Do you have a link i can see? More than likely since the defaults are

.sf-menu, .sf-menu * {
	margin: 0;
	padding: 0;
	list-style: none;
}
.sf-menu {
	line-height:	1.0;
}

you need to find that code and change the sf-menu {

if you still dont get the results try adding !important before the ; of a style.

Its best to open the default.css stylesheet and copy the contents to your childthemes style.css. Then remove the line at the top that imports the default.css.

Now you can simply modify the styles you need to there. You can find .sf-menu about 150 lines down in default.css code.

Hi Danieliser, thanks for the tip.

For my project a static menu will do fine (dynamic would be ideal), however I can't seem to get your code to work.

I'm using Thematic and my child style.css has no additional code so far (apart from calling the Thematic CSS)

The only way ive come up with is like this

.sf-menu {
width:600px; // Make this just large enough to contain the menu items you want
margin:0 auto;
}

Obviously this has a drawback of not being very dynamic if you add or change the names of the items on the menu. But it will work for static menus.
