When I did as described, my header image is shown, but I have a big distance between the picture and the beginning of my blog. I am using theThematic Powerblog on http://www.boruta.net. How can I reduce the distance?

Hey Uwe,
the space you mentioned is defined in #branding {padding:44px 0 198px;} .. reduce the third value to decrease the space between your header image and menu.
